What is henna?
Henna, also know as mehndi in the Sanskrit language is a paste that is made out of the naturally dried leaves of a lawsonia plant, these leafs are then turned into a powder with the help of a grinder. Once the powder has been made it is used to make henna paste, that is then applied to your skin.
What ingredients do you use in your henna paste?
The ingredients we use to make our henna are 100% natural rajasthani henna powder, black tea, lemon juice(as a natural preservative), sugar and essential oils (lavender+ eucalyptus).
What is the difference between chemical henna and natural henna?
Natural henna commonly contains the ingredients that I listed above. Some people choose to swap black tea for brewed coffee, it's just down to personal preference. Natural henna is more expensive than chemical henna due to the natural ingredients used. The stain develops over 48 hrs and will stay on your skin with the right aftercare for approximately 7-10 days.
Chemical henna is made with henna powder, however harmful chemicals are added to give an instant dark brown almost black stain in a matter of seconds. This is why some people that have had this sort of henna used on their skin have spoken of horrifying stories of chemical burns, blisters and scars on their skin. Although it cheaper it is not long lasting and wears off the skin within two days.
Why is my hand cold after applying henna on to it?
This is a very commonly asked question and the answer is quite simply because henna loves the heat and is absorbing it from your hands. Your hand getting cold is a good sign as it means you will achieve a dark stain approximately 48hrs after the paste is taken off.
Does henna have an expiry date?
No but we recommend you keep your henna in the fridge so it lasts longer and use your henna within two weeks from the date of arrival.
