As a child i always watched my mum do my henna and i was always fascinated and in awe by the way she created a beautiful and intricate design as if by magic.
From then onwards i started to try and replicate her designs on scrap pieces of paper at every given opportunity. My family saw how engrossed i was and decided to buy me a sketchbook as a present in which i started to develop designs and ideas of my own. Slowly but surely pencils became pens and pens became henna cones and before i knew it i was confident in creating designs using the henna cone.
Then came my favorite part! My cousin saw my designs and asked if i wanted to practice on her hands. I couldn't believe it! full excitement and joy i had found my first client. At first my designs didn't look as good on her hand as they did on paper. They weren't as sharp or as detailed; i needed to perfect my technique. However this didn't stop me as i knew practice makes perfect and that is exactly what i did, practice.
As my technique improved so did my clientele list. Before i knew it at every family function i had my sisters , aunts , cousins , nieces as well as invited guest asking me to do their henna.
You now may be wondering on how Nafisa.Mehndi came about. I have heard so many horrifying and disturbing stories of people who have had really bad experiences with henna and are reluctant to use it again. All of these stories were related to the use of chemical henna. This has created a culture of confusion with many people not knowing the difference between natural and chemical henna.
Nafisa.Mehndis' mission is to that address the misconception by providing 100% natural, organic and pure henna to people around the UK. XX
